Day 6: How to Watch 7,000 Hours of Olympic Coverage
NBC has held the US broadcasting rights for the past 10 Summer Olympics, since Seoul 1988, and has increased the amount of coverage with every edition. Paris 2024 marks the first time that every single moment of every single event will be available to US viewers, via NBC-owned streaming platform Peacock.
The numbers behind NBC’s operation are staggering. In addition to 1200 staff in Paris (including 150 commentators with 90 Olympic medals of their own), there are another 1800 staff working from 30 studios at NBC Sports’ International Broadcast Center in Connecticut. And that’s not even counting Elmo, Cookie Monster, and other Muppet friends joining the fun.
